Dec. 2012: Sandra (Germany)

With All Her Might is proud to announce our first-ever Fearless Woman of God, Sandra (pronounced Zan-dra), from Germany.

Sandra

Hello!  I am very excited to share a little bit of my story with you.  My name is Sandra and I am 20 years old.  I grew up in a small town in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany with my younger brother and my parents.  A year ago I moved to a bigger city located in western Germany, bordering Luxembourg, to study psychology at a university there.  I share an apartment with 4 other girls who are Christians.  I can clearly see God’s handiwork in that.  He blessed us so much by giving us each other.  The way He brought us together was amazing; we hadn’t ever met before!  I didn’t really grow up in a Christian home, so it’s very nice to have one now.  We can encourage and support each other in our everyday lives.  I usually go home on the weekends since it’s not too far, which allows me to still be part of and get involved in our church youth group, youcom, which I am really thankful for.

God has given me a great passion for other people.  I love to hang out with my friends (which I think almost everybody does) and spend quality time with the ones I love the most.  Furthermore, I love and enjoy supporting others; helping them when they need help, listening when they need somebody to listen, and just loving on them.  I pray for God to give me His eyes and heart for other people.

Studying psychology allows me to learn to better understand human behavior and mental functions.  For now, I think God wants me to pursue helping others as a profession, maybe as a psychotherapist or school psychologist; I love children and think there is a huge need in supporting them in today’s society.  Though I don’t know yet which path I’m going to take, I am convinced that God will lead and guide me to the place in this world where He wants me to be, and that He’ll equip me with everything I need so that I can bring Him glory.

Looking back, I can clearly see God has been with me all my life.  When I was younger my parents fought a lot.  This was a time full of sadness and heartache.  Though I might not have seen it then, I know for sure that God was holding me and keeping me safe.  He gave me strength, hope and the will to be different, the wish to spread love and joy.  I didn’t really have a personal relationship with Jesus back then, but I believed that He was there and cared for me.  At age 13, I started to attend confirmation classes (usually all of the protestant kids do here in Germany) and that’s where I got to know Jesus.  A year later, I chose to live with Him and pursue God more and more.

Of course there have been some ups and downs and it hasn’t always been easy for me.  There were a few times I wondered where God had gone, because I couldn’t seem to find Him anymore.  But I stayed faithful and trusted that He would come near to me again.  And He did.  I treasure these moments in my heart, the first light after a time of seemingly darkness, and remember them every time God feels distant to me again.  I know that it’s usually self-inflicted, for example, when I let other things take His place. I believe the only way to stay close to God is to seek Him every day, and that’s what I try to do.  Some days it’s easier than others, some days I fail completely.  It’s so easy to get caught up in this world, with so many unimportant things.

God has truly healed and changed my heart and the way I see things.  My prayer is to grow more and more into the kind of woman He designed me to be (Proverbs 31).  I want to make a difference in this world and I believe in a greater purpose.

Girls, I believe God is going to use every single one of us to bring Him glory, in whatever way that may be. Let’s pursue and seek Him first and stand firm together as women of God, as sisters in Christ.

For me, I know I want “With All Her Might” to be my lifestyle and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through this ministry!

Blessings,

Sandra
